Book now for 2024! Our private guided Sunset Hike at Carolina Bound Adventures is close to Bryson City, NC, and offers a 360-degree view of the Great Smoky Mountains at sunset. With room for 7 Guests, we meet you at a central location for pick up and we drive, allowing you to relax and enjoy the evening. Meeting time is at 6 P.M* and drop-off is anticipated to be near 10 P.M.* (*pickup and dropoff times shift later as daylight shifts through the summer) Heading out to the Sunset Hike you’ll see spectacular views of the Nantahala River and Nantahala Cascades as we travel to the destination. Our hike is on the Appalachian Trail and the total hike distance is 2.5 to 3 miles round trip and would be considered moderate+ in nature. The Sunset Hike heads up the Appalachian Trail to a peak where an ascent is required to the top of a fire tower. Headlamps are provided for the descent. Advance Reservations Required. 2 person minimum booking required with a 7 guest capacity. $94 per Guest for the first 2 + $74 for each additional guest at 3+. Mark was an INCREDIBLE guide for our sunset hike! We hiked with our 4yr old daughter and my 7yr old nephew and he was incredibly kind, patient, and encouraging to them. We were picked up in a very nice Lincoln Navigator complete with hand sanitizer and Lysol spray readily available. Mark is great with communication. He always responded to every email and even sent me information on his own. We all felt very prepared because of Mark. We had not been on a hike like this and were nervous, but left feeling amazing and so accomplished! We loved that Mark knew about the different wild life on the hike. He had us stop at different times and encouraged us to drink water. The view at the top is SECOND TO NONE! It was incredible!!!! Worth every step! He brought snacks (and even Twizzlers knowing we had our children). Mark was patient with my 4yr old daughter who wanted to hike and then get in my carrier. He never made us feel like a burden or that he was inconvenienced. He involved our children in so many things and made them feel so special. I personally was nervous about the way back, knowing it was going to be pitch black. Mark had us all set up accordingly! He provided us with hand lamps, head lamps, and a walking sticks for every single person in our party (6). Everything lit up the trail beautifully! We were so amazed and NOT afraid at all! We enjoyed every single second of this excursion and would recommend this to every single person! Thank you Mark for such a great experience! We will never forget a second of this Sunset Hike excursion!

Amazing! Beautiful, peaceful fun hike up to a fire tower for 360 degree views of the Smokies and sounding mountains! Mark is a awesome guide who is very knowledgeable about wildflowers, trees, flora and the history of the area! Wonderful sense of adventure too!!
He even stopped at a few very beautiful waterfalls that weren’t even part of the tour!

The sunset hike with Mark and Joannie was spectacular!!! They are fantastic guides and shared a wealth of knowledge not only of getting us to the top and back safely but providing the history of the area and little known facts.
