Thursday Day 2 – Breakfast and transportation into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Our first hike of the day totals 4.1 miles, with a stop at the highest peak in the Park, Clingman’s Dome, which boasts one of the most spectacular views in the entire Park. Lunch will follow at historic Newfound Gap, and then the 4.2 mile hike #2 will take us over streams and creeks to a hiker’s shelter. After the hike, we’ll head back into Bryson City and visit Bryson’s original brewery, Nantahala Brewing.
Friday Day 3 – After breakfast at the Inn, we’ll head back into the Smoky Mountains National Park taking a 7 mile Guided Hike which will feature 3 waterfalls. Lunch will proceed our visit at “The Road to Nowhere”, one of Bryson City’s most famous landmarks. Our 2 mile out and back loop hike from there will tie up our 9 mile total hiking day, and then we’ll head to Bryson City’s other Brewery for a bit, Mountain Layers Brewing, freshen up for dinner and head to another famous Inn which features up to 5 different types of trout on the menu!
Saturday Day 4 – This big day will include a visit to the famous Fontana Dam, the highest dam east of the Rockies, and then a challenging ascent up to the Great Smoky Mountains Shuckstack fire tower for a spectacular look back down at Fontana Lake. We’ll then head from there to the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest for a light 2 mile hike in a stand of 450 year old trees. Post hike we’ll head to historic Tapoco Lodge for brews and dinner.
