Book now for 2024! The Carolina Bound Adventures full-day hike is anticipated to be around an 8 hour day. The hike includes a backcountry guide and outdoor gear! Backpack, hiking poles, and basic hiking gear essentials. Picnic-style lunch included! We’ll pick a hike based on your desired exertion level, mild, medium, or “let’s go for it!” We specialize with individuals and families new to the Western North Carolina / Bryson City / Great Smoky Mountains area or new to hiking that want to get out and hike, but may not have the experience or gear and want a guided adventure. 2 person minimum booking required with a 6 person max capacity. $139 per person for the first 2 + $99 per person at 3+. All backcountry guides are wilderness first aid certified and we practice leave no trace protocols. Carolina Bound Adventures operates under a special Great Smoky Mountains National Park permit and holds Commercial Use Authorizations for Shuttles, Guided Hikes, and Backpacking. My husband and I recently took a special “Eclipse” hike with Carolina Bound Adventures. It was AWESOME! They took us on a hike up a mountain to watch the Solar Eclipse. We were with a small group of 12 people and it was like we were old friends. Mark and Bernie had chairs,snacks, and games set up on the mountain top when we got there, along with solar glasses, and champagne to toast the total Eclipse. Following the Eclipse we hiked down the mountain to a wonderful barbeque party to complete the day. This company certainly knew how to make the Eclipse into a most memorable event!! I would highly recommend Carolina Bound Adventures to anyone looking for an outdoor adventure in the Bryson City area!! We plan to return another time to go hiking again with Mark and Bernie!!

Mark at Carolina Bound Adventures was a fantastic guide! He personalized our hike based on conversations and emails prior to us arriving in Bryson City. On the hike, he taught us so much about the history of the area and the many flowers, trees, and mushrooms that grow there. No bears, snakes or pigs were seen, but we were ready for whatever we encountered. We look forward to returning another time and trying out Backpacking with an overnight (or 2?) stay with Mark as our guide.

We recently did a guided hike with Mark down Hazel Creek Trail in the Smokies and I’ll be honest this was probably the best guided hike I’ve ever had! He is not only very caring about your well-being on the hike but also very knowledgeable about the history of the park and even the different wild flowers we saw along the way. He was always making sure we were drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and stopping every 2 hours to eat to stay well nourished. He truly cares about the safety of his guests and I certainly recommend any guided tours he does! Thanks again Mark!
